Jailed for keeping mum

Jordan Halliday is a Utah-based animal rights activist who has just begun a 10-month prisone sentence for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury about his political beliefs and political associations.

The trouble began in 2009 when the Utah grand jury convened to investigate the release of mink by Animal Liberation Front activists from farms in Utah.

Halliday was jailed once for contempt of court – now he is back in jail.
